Utility / Water Resources Engineer
Drummond Carpenter, PLLC is actively seeking a mid- to senior-level Professional Engineer and Project Manager in Orlando, FL to lead our utilities practice while supporting our ongoing water resources projects. Drummond Carpenter, PLLC is a leading service-disabled veteran-owned small business (SDVOSB) that is expanding in Florida and other regional markets based on existing contract opportunities in utility, environmental, and water resources engineering. The person selected for this position will be supported by Drummond Carpenter staff in Florida and Michigan. Responsibilities for this position include but are not limited to: Leverage existing contracts with local and regional governmental agencies in the Central Florida and Midwestern markets to increase utilities and water resources opportunities; Enhance collaboration with local and regional engineering consulting companies to form partnerships that will lead to expanded revenue streams from new and existing Drummond Carpenter contracts; Work with firm leaders to develop a targeted business development and marketing plan for the management, development, and growth of the firm’s utility engineering and water resources engineering practices; Perform hydraulic modeling of gravity and pressurized systems; Conduct utility engineering services associated with water, wastewater, effluent disposal, and reclaimed water distribution facilities, pump stations, and miscellaneous utility system components; Develop construction documents and specifications to support subsurface utility engineering improvements; Design trenchless and other innovative utility installation techniques; Support our water resources practice related to watershed management, stormwater management, and related capital improvement projects; Perform meeting facilitation; Manage field investigations and environmental sampling; Lead technical document preparation, including technical writing and creation of exhibits, figures, engineering schematics, graphics, and maps; Perform or oversee construction administration support services; and Mentor staff.
Minimum job requirements include:
Bachelor's degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering (MS Degree preferred) Professional Engineer (PE) License in Florida, and ability to obtain other state licenses within 6 months 5+ years’ experience in civil engineering with a track record of increased responsibility Project Management experience Driver’s license for business travel Experience with utility hydraulic modeling and AutoCAD and GIS software Ability to work with minimal supervision and possessing strong oral and written communication skills Excellent time management Remote working flexibility
