Drummond Carpenter now serves as a protégé to Jones Edmunds in a unique federal partnership with NASA that supports talented small businesses.
It is the National Aeronautics and Space Administration’s first consulting engineering agreement through its Mentor-Protégé Program (MPP), which connects long-standing NASA contractors like Jones Edmunds (mentors) with small businesses (protégés) and new opportunities to participate in both NASA prime contracts and subcontracts.
As a participant in the NASA MPP, Drummond Carpenter and Jones Edmunds are committed through a 24-month agreement that builds on each other’s expertise as environmental and civil engineering firms to benefit all three organizations.
“Having continuously grown our business over the past five years, we have enjoyed working on several of NASA’s projects and are excited to partner with them and Jones Edmunds—a firm whose culture and technical expertise are second to none,” said Chad Drummond, PE, D.WRE, BCEE, President of Drummond Carpenter. “Most important, we hope our involvement will yield new opportunities for service-disabled veteran-owned small businesses like ours that truly benefit from these programs.”
Already a subcontractor for NASA’s White Sands Test Facility in New Mexico, Drummond Carpenter soon plans to grow its workforce and service areas in water and wastewater engineering as a result of this new partnership.
Jones Edmunds is a NASA-approved mentor and has served NASA for nearly 30 years, including service on multiple 5-year NASA Civil IDIQ contracts. Drummond Carpenter and Jones Edmunds offer a strong synergy as licensed professional civil and environmental engineering consulting companies providing services to federal, state, municipal, public and private clients.
Jones Edmunds will provide technical training, development, guidance and resources to help Drummond Carpenter expand its capabilities so it can successfully perform as a future prime contractor to NASA. Drummond Carpenter brings its additional depth in areas such as environmental remediation and green infrastructure design.

A virtual signing ceremony was held on April 22 to formalize the relationship and further highlight this important program.
